Societies around the world are looking for natural solutions to problems of poor mental health, emotions, physical and spiritual well-being – resulting from stress caused by socio-economic and political issues.

One of the practical tools most often used to overcome some of these challenges, besides religion, is the practice of yoga, especially in the developed world, especially among Asians, Americans and Europeans.

Yoga is a form of exercise believed to control the mind and relieve stress and other physical ailments through the discipline of well-composed meditation, a special breathing technique, and a sitting posture for certain durations.

This type of exercise ends with relaxation, comfort and relief since the practitioner completes a section by lying on a mat.

Some part of society believe that yoga can be used as therapy to improve fitness or to treat physical ailments.

The mirror observed that young people seem to embrace the practice with the belief that yoga would help them achieve fitness, inner peace, and excellent focus for their daily activities.

Yoga is believed to help relieve physical discomfort during pregnancy

Although some view the exercise with superstition, some yoga instructors say it is meant to instill discipline and spiritual tolerance in those who practice it.

The mirror also collected from customers, mainly on social networks, that the practice is highly recommended for pregnant women and children and those who suffer from muscle pain.

For pregnant women, some certified yoga instructors say that “yoga improves sleep, increases strength, flexibility and endurance during work, and reduces back pain.”

How it goes, every day at Korpha camp

These days, social media platforms are the best choice for yoga practitioners as they showcase their body’s amazing postures.

Currently, a Ghanaian woman, Ms. Gifty Akorfa Quarshie, known as Korpha on social media, is advocating for the yoga exercise which has attracted many women.

So far, she has trained over 200 women and there are many who sign up for exercise daily.

She therefore made it her sole profession.

Korpha is a certified yoga instructor.

She trained at the Asheville Yoga Center in North Carolina, United States of America.

Two or more people are able to combine skills to achieve such postures

She charges GHc65 per day for exercise that takes place in designated locations such as a swimming pool, gym, hotels and open spaces.

Sharing her eight years of field training and encouraging women interested in exercising, she said she first had the passion in Ghana before traveling to find out more.

She said her yoga journey began when she realized the health and fitness benefits of flexibility and the difficult things the body can do.

Through her various social media platforms, she believed she motivated many women, including those from overseas, to join yoga.

Her target audience, she explained, were those who needed long hours of sitting, noting that posture was one of the biggest issues for humans, “so we tend to have a lot of chronic pain in the body. back and waist.

Yoga provides flexibility

“I have a number of yoga clients who have been suggested to me by their doctors. Pregnant and post-pregnant women, children (because children are depressed too) and tall women are all in my target audience, ”she said.

Korpha, whose passion for yoga influenced her decision to stretch her body in different postures even during pregnancy, believed yoga should be introduced to all basic schools.

Yoga embraces tall women

She was of the opinion that “Yoga improved children’s strength, coordination and flexibility, while encouraging body awareness and self-esteem. It reduces the anxiety and stress of the child, while increasing the feeling of calm ”.

Although some people associate yoga with chanting, more of a religious doctrine, Korpha said that she was not influenced by their perception but used yoga as an opportunity to educate these people.

“There are so many different types of yoga practice under the word (yoga), therefore, not all yoga practices require chanting or meditation, you choose what you feel is appropriate for your beliefs. .

I think meditation is not a bad thing depending on the individual.

Yoga is no exception to men

Christians meditate on the word of God, Muslims too, others do it according to their religion. What I’m doing is more of a combination of yoga and workout routines to improve our health in various ways, ”she explained.

The certified yoga instructor said yoga is a healthy lifestyle that should be enjoyed by everyone, adding that anyone can adopt the fitness.

For those interested in learning yoga, Korpha said, “Forget about the fancy poses you see online that scare you. There are so many ways to practice yoga and benefit from it. Everyone needs yoga; you need it because not all illnesses require medication, there are some that just need you to relax and take a few deep breaths. Some also simply require stretching for pain in the knees, arms, back and lower back, ”she said.
