As the San Diego Seals open their inaugural season, the professional box lacrosse team has selected UC San Diego Health, the region’s only college health system, as the official health care provider.
Onsite medical care for all Seals training camps and home games athletes is led by David EJ Bazzo, MD, Primary Care Physician / Sports Medicine Specialist and Chief Team Physician of the UC San Diego Health; Catherine M. Robertson, MD, chief sports medicine, team associate and chief orthopedic surgeon; Bryan T. Leek, MD, orthopedic surgeon and team physician; and Kenneth S. Taylor, MD, primary care physician / sports medicine specialist and team associate physician; with the support of a massage therapist and a nutritionist.

Through this partnership, Seals athletes have access to cutting-edge sports medicine and orthopedic care, including emerging surgical techniques and imaging and diagnostic tools. The team also benefits from UC San Diego Health’s expertise in family medicine, nutritional education and massage therapy. UC San Diego Health and the Seals will collaborate in outreach and awareness efforts to promote fitness and a healthy lifestyle in the local community.
