The LPGA, the world’s leading professional women’s golf organization, has again named RWJBarnabas Health the Official Healthcare Provider of the 2022 LPGA Cognizant Founders Cup Tournament.
Taking place this week from Wednesday to Sunday at the historic Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, 2022 marks the second year in a row that RWJBarnabas Health has partnered with the prestigious event that showcases the world’s best professional players and contributes to the mission of the LPGA to engage, empower and support girls and women.
Led by local anchor institutions Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Clara Maass Medical Center, RWJBarnabas Health will be responsible for all on-site emergency medical services throughout the week of the tournament, and special attention will be paid to outreach to melanoma, with signage promoting preventive measures placed throughout the tournament venue.
“RWJBarnabas is New Jersey’s premier healthcare system, and their support of this event greatly helps our mission to continue to engage, empower and support girls and women through this great sport,” Tracy Hupko , Head of Sales and Marketing, Cognizant Founders Cup, mentioned.
“As tens of thousands of attendees, many from surrounding communities, come out to enjoy the best professional golfers in the world this week at Upper Montclair CC, we see a tremendous opportunity to educate them about melanoma awareness, while sharing preventative measures to stay out of the sun,” said Dr. Franz Smith, Northern Melanoma and Soft Tissue Oncology Program Manager and Medical Director of the Melanoma Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.
Teaneck-based Cognizant will continue to be title sponsor of the 2022 Cognizant Founders Cup, an event that honors the 13 founding members of the LPGA. The Cognizant Founders Cup offers a $3 million purse, which is the largest of any LPGA Tour event outside of the majors and the CME Group Tour Championship.
