I decided to go to the BOSSFIT Academy and let Barry put me to the test to see what it was all about.
Having heard that Barry’s workouts can be “quite a shock”, I asked myself, “Am I going to regret it?”
When I arrived at the gym (in an undisclosed location downtown) the first thing I noticed was how beautiful the building is and what an amazing view the BOSSFIT team has during let her practice.
I met the owner in the flesh for the first time and he gave me a brief explanation of what I could expect from a BOSSTHENICS workout.
Barry is a lovely guy who is passionate about what he does, but despite all the smiles, I knew he wasn’t going to hold back during our practice session.
(Maybe stupidly) I told Barry before I arrived that I was working out regularly, so I was glad he gave me a harder routine. Would I live to regret such a decision?

First, we started with a treadmill warm-up where Barry explained the importance of getting your blood pumping before a workout.
Then we moved on to hanging leg raises. Barry said at BOSSFIT they always train their abs first to make sure they aren’t forgotten (or deliberately left out) at the end of a session.
Being someone who does a lot of solo bodybuilding, I usually take my time with my sets.
Well, no luck here.
BOSSFIT workouts combine the strength work of bodybuilding with the cardiovascular benefits of fast training and short rest periods.
It makes your heart rate skyrocket and you really feel the difference after a few minutes.

We then moved on to a superset of handstand pushups and jump squats, which got my pulse racing even higher.
Then we did another combination of pull-ups and “walking push-ups,” which left me pretty flushed in the face.
Despite all my strength, my lungs definitely need work, as I was panting like a dog by the time we finished!
Barry finished the workout with some sort of rowing exercise and it was done.
Usually BOSSFIT workouts are 40-60 minutes long, but since I was down for a Facebook Live, we decided to do a condensed 20 minute version.

The workout ended with stretching, where Barry nearly broke my legs in half.
I felt an incredible stretch that I could never have managed on my own, but the pleasure of it bordered on agony at the end!
I guess that’s what they mean when they say “feel the burn”.
We finished training and I felt like I was in it for well over 20 minutes – that’s the advantage of the fast nature of BOSSTHENICS.

I had a great time during my BOSSTHENICS session, and really felt like I walked away with a new appreciation for Barry’s fast style of workouts.
I felt my heart and lungs working like never before, and my muscles were also quite pumped up.
Barry was a great motivator throughout and he was always keen to check on how I was doing.
It’s this level of attention that really helps its BOSSFIT customers realize their potential and their results speak for themselves.
One of Barry’s clients lost over 100 pounds in less than a year and that’s no surprise considering the great setup they have at their gym and Barry’s passion for helping people get in shape.
They even have celebrity endorsements like Geordie Shore’s Scotty T and TV personality Calum Best, proving how much BOSSFIT has grown in such a short time.

I will definitely return to the BOSSFIT Academy to take part in a full session and see what I’m really capable of.
Although Barry specializes in helping busy parents get in the best shape of their lives, everyone is welcome to join BOSSFIT Academy.
