The Wolverine is back Hugh Jackman returns to the gym to once again sport the muscular frame of the beloved x-men character. It has now been confirmed that Jackman will reprise the role of Wolverine in the upcoming Dead Pool 3an announcement that came as a huge surprise to Marvel fans, with the actor now taking to Instagram to share an image and reel of himself pumping iron in preparation.
Hugh Jackman first starred as Wolverine over two decades ago in the first x-men exit. While the actor has been praised for his portrayal, Jackman has since revealed he only has a few weeks to prepare. Hence why his physique is much less impressive than it would eventually become. Jackman has now played the role multiple times, each time working hard to bring the live-action Marvel superhero to life, with the actor often high on the list of biggest physical transformations.
Clearly, Jackman wants to continue that legacy, with the 53-year-old actor taking to social media to show off his efforts with a reel appearing alongside the caption, “And so it begins.”
The reveal that Hugh Jackman will return as Wolverine in Dead Pool 3 came out of nowhere last week when Ryan Reynolds suddenly shared a video on Twitter. A video that “broke the internet”, as they say. Since then, Reynolds and Jackman have appeared together to answer questions about Wolverine’s return and whether it will affect his perfect 2017 finale. Logan.
“You have questions,” Reynolds begins. “Yes. I had a lot of questions,” adds Jackman. “But don’t worry, were going to answer them right away.”
“Like for example, how is Wolverine alive after Logan?” Jackman continues. “Logan takes place in the year 2029. Something totally different. Logan died in Logan. Don’t touch that,” Reynolds says, with an assurance that Logan fans no doubt breathed a sigh of relief.
After teasing what’s to come (you hear nothing, because What’s this offhand hit of 1984 wake me up before you go launches into a major Deadpool-style troll move), the two actors play out a fight between Deadpool and Wolverine. “Thank you, Kevin Feige,” Reynolds concludes, and Jackman adds, “I love you, Kevin Feige. Thank you, MCU.
Deadpool 3 is set to follow Wolverine and Deadpool on a road trip
While the plot of Dead Pool 3 is currently unconfirmed, it seems increasingly likely that the threequel will follow Wolverine and Deadpool embarking on a road trip. Something Ryan Reynolds apparently revealed last year.
dead Pool Creator Rob Liefeld has since revealed that’s also what he’s heard happening when the pair join forces in 2024. “Bing Crosby/Bob Hope, Road Pictures. I feel like that’s what we get,” the comic book caption said. “Or maybe it’s more like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Sundance Kid was more serious and Butch Cassidy was more of an accomplice. It’s more like Lethal Weapon, and it’s Danny Glover and Mel Gibson. But somewhere in between those models that I just gave you. Bing and Bob; Butch and Sundance; Newman/Redford; Hugh and Ryan. It’s going to be a freak.
Directed by Shawn Levy, written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, Dead Pool 3 is now scheduled for September 6, 2024.
