Health care provider to close 6 Sussex care homes, including one in Uckfield

Sussex Health Care is closing Beech Lodge, Kingsmead Lodge and Orchard Lodge in Horsham as well as The Granary in Broadbridge Heath.

Beechcroft in East Grinstead and Wisteria Lodge Uckfield are also closing.

The company said around 80 people who use the service are affected.

At the end of 2020, Sussex Health Care shut down The Laurels after being deemed inadequate by inspectors for the eighth time.

And police are investigating the deaths of eight people in nine of its homes.

The spokesperson added: “Our immediate priority is to ensure that the people we care for are supported in their transition to appropriate alternative care.

“We will also support our dedicated and hardworking staff throughout the process of shutting down services.”
