MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE / WYOU-TV) A big announcement Monday by Geisinger and the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders.
Geisinger has been named the Official Health System for the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, under a multi-year sponsorship.
âGeisinger, the RailRiders and the Yankees share a commitment to excellence,â said Dr. Anthony D. Aquilina, regional president of Geisinger Northeast in a prepared statement.
âOur team at Geisinger is dedicated to providing high quality, value-based care for the people who live and work in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This partnership provides more opportunities to support our local team and, together, enrich the health of our community by promoting physical fitness and exercise. Added Dr Aquilina.
âThe RailRiders and the Yankees are proud to work with Geisinger,â said Josh Olerud, President and COO of RailRiders in the statement.
Olerud added, âTheir reputation as a leader in our community is unmatched, and this partnership enables RailRiders to better use their services while helping to promote the positive effect of Geisinger here in Northeastern Pennsylvania. “
The partnership comes into effect this season.
As an official healthcare provider, Geisinger’s sponsorship includes:
Provide stadium injury prevention training sessions for local high school athletic directors, coaches, players and youth leagues
Six Geisinger health fairs in the field
Creating healthy food options on the suite menu
· Theme nights “Health awareness”
Serve as the official medical staff of RailRiders University
A presenting partner of the Challenger Little League
Naming rights in the Plaza and the Kids Zone
The agreement complements a broader commitment to building community partnerships.
