Duncan Bannatyne’s first ever health club, in Ingleby Barwick on Teesside, is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The club’s anniversary marks the ‘Silver Jubilee’ of the fitness and wellness company, which was founded by CEO and Chairman Duncan Bannatyne OBE in 1997.

Since then, the group has built up a portfolio of 69 health clubs, 47 spas and four hotels.

Over the years, the Ingleby Barwick club in Myton Road has grown and developed. Today, it has a well-equipped gym, swimming pool, sauna, steam room and a bar-café with a playground and outdoor patio.

The gym features the latest cardiovascular and resistance equipment, an extensive free weight section and a state-of-the-art functional training area with Technogym Onmia 8.

There are studios for a range of exercise classes, including group cycling and mind and body sessions. The health club also has a functional exercise room and function room, which regularly hosts private parties.

Five years ago a Bannatyne Spa added a new dimension to the facilities with six treatment rooms, manicure and pedicure stations and a range of spa treatments and days using high quality products including Elemis and OPI .

Duncan Bannatyne OBE said: “Ingleby Barwick will always be very special as this is the first club I opened when I started the health club business all those years ago.

“It’s amazing how far the company has come from those small beginnings with a domain that now spans the whole country.

“The Clubs philosophy has evolved and expanded from a focus on exercise to a holistic approach focusing on physical and mental well-being and encouraging healthy lifestyles.

“Our health clubs, spas and staff pride themselves on providing a blend of exercise, relaxation and rejuvenation to their members.

“Happy birthday to Ingleby Barwick – here’s to the next 25 years!”

Members will celebrate this milestone with a party on October 15th.
